Welcome!

Greetings! We're Dawn and Martin Harrison from New Jersey.  In September 2018, we had the extraordinary opportunity to take a few weeks off from work and travel through France, Switzerland, Germany and Italy.  The experience left us with an indelible sense of wanderlust and a deeper appreciation for European architecture, art and culture.  This website is a chronicle of that magnificent trip highlighting the sights seen, friends made, and curiosities encountered along the way.  We hope you enjoy it!

For years, we watched Rick Steves Europe television show on PBS, but never realized he had a tour company. I’m not sure how we found it, but the Rick Steves Best of Europe in 14 Days tour hit many of the places we wanted to see.  Click the button below to go to the Rick Steves Website and a description of the tour.

Our guide for this trip was Dave Stringer.  Dave knows this region well, and he never ran out of stories, bits of history, or good-humored jokes. Without Dave's guidance, we would have spent hours in lines, wondering where to eat, or trying to plan our day.  Dave, it was our pleasure to have spent this time with you.

Why it's good to travel light  (and our packing lists)

On this tour we were limited to one carry on bag and a personal item.   We weren't in the travel-light mindset at first, but we've been converted.  On this page you'll find a list of the gear we used to travel.

Closing thoughts and lessons learned

Are we glad we took this trip? Obviously, that's a YES, but there are a few things we learned along the way.   Here are a few things we might do differently.

Thanks for the look!
